Cable TV Troubleshooting -
Audio (sound) Issues
Audio is in Spanish
(or other language, or radio station.)
Sometimes, usually during major sporting
events (like the SUPERBOWL, WORLD SERIES, etc.), programs
are broadcast in English and Spanish (and sometimes other
languages or radio as well). If the TV is set to SAP/MTS,
the customer will receive the broadcast in another language
or hear radio.
If you change the channel to another
station, the audio will turn back to the regular audio.
To correct your TV setting, you will
need the ORIGINAL REMOTE THAT CAME WITH THE TV, not the remote
that RCN supplied you.
On the manufacturer remote:
Check for a button labled "SAP" or "MTS".
If you do not have this button on the remote, use your MENU
button to find the AUDIO (or SOUND) settings on your TV. If
you do not have a MENU button on the remote, look for one
on the front panel of the TV.
When you find this area, you should see
an SAP section, or an AUDIO area where you can turn OFF the
SAP setting.
IF you are unable to find this setting,
try your user manual for your TV, or call the manufacturer
of your TV to help you find it.
Poor Audio
Is the problem affecting ALL of your TV's
with RCN cable? If the problem just lies with ONE TV, it may
be that TV.
No Audio
Is your TV muted? Try pressing the VOLUME
UP on your remote. IF the remote does not respond, go up to
your TV and MANUALLY press the VOLUME UP button.
Is there no audio on ALL CHANNELS? If
not, there may be a problem with the station that is broadcasting.
If the problem persists, call 1.800.RING.RCN and speak
to a Customer Service Agent.
