Online Enhancements
Also this year, RCN High-Speed Internet subscribers were given free, exclusive access
to two incredible broadband-based services: ESPN360.com and ABC News Now. ESPN360
provides exclusive, unlimited access to more than 1,400 live games and sporting events.
And ABC News Now puts a wide array of news and information at our customers' fingertips –
including world, money, entertainment, travel and national news.
RCN also upgraded RCN Music and RCN Webmail. With RCN Music, it's easier
and more fun than ever to listen to, stream and download unlimited music. And now RCN
Webmail offers more storage space (up to 500 MB per account), a new interface, and other
improved features.
Spanish-Language Products
In 2007, RCN launched MiTeléfono, an international calling plan that provides very
competitive long distance rates to 23 Latin American countries, plus Spain and Puerto
Rico. In addition, we added the History Channel En Espanol to our MiVisión
Spanish-language channels.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are my rates increasing?
We are increasing our Cable TV and DigitalVisionPlus rates for two reasons.
Firstly, the cost of the quality programming we provide has gone up. Cable
network content providers regularly increase their service rates, and RCN,
as well as other service providers, pay them for programming. These content
providers have again increased their rates, and as a result we must raise
ours. Secondly, the cost of maintaining and improving the technology needed
to bring our customers the best services has also increased. Simply put, we
are spending more to bring you a better product. A portion of that cost is
reflected in our new rates.
I live in a Bulk building. Will my rate for Basic Cable
TV be impacted by these changes?
RCN has agreements with select apartment complexes, co-ops and condominiums
to provide RCN Cable TV at a special discounted rate. If your building has
this type of relationship you will not be affected by RCN rate increases. If
you subscribe to additional services, like DigitalVisionPlus, you may incur
rate increases for that particular service. Billing for these services may
be coordinated by your building management and fees may be included as part
of your monthly maintenance fee.
