Student residence facility needs voice, data and video services -- fast

The Challenge

 
Students attending college have enough to think about, like attending lectures, studying, volunteering, working, socializing and more. When selecting a place to live, reliable affordable access to voice, data and video service is not only required, but expected.

Providing those services presented a challenge for the Educational Housing Services (EHS) in New York City. They needed to find voice, data and video services for Pace University students that matched the high-quality standards residents have come to expect from EHS facilities. Plus, EHS needed a provider who could set up those services on an extremely aggressive deadline.

“The institutions of higher education served by EHS have high expectations. In turn, we expect our service providers to live up to those same expectations,” said George Scott, President of Educational Housing Services.

The Solution

 
After meeting with several different service providers Scott met with an RCN representative that specialized in providing bulk services to educational, health care and hospitality facilities. Because of their experience in the industry and team of dedicated specialists, RCN was able to develop a solution to deliver the services needed within the timeframe EHS required. RCN now provides Pace University students with more than 85 channels of Digital Cable TV, unlimited local and long distance Phone service, and a connection to a 100 Mbps Internet pipe that has been configured to allow wired and wireless access throughout the residence. 

RCN was the only provider able to meet the deadline and provide the quality products, account management and customer service that sets RCN apart from other providers. It made sense for EHS, the experts in student housing, to work with RCN, the experts in telecommunications.”
